Is the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas the Best SUV with Three Rows?

A great choice for big families, a large SUV with three rows can be the perfect option for people who aren’t quite ready to commit to the minivan lifestyle. Recently, Cars.com hosted a number of challenges to pit cars brands against each other to figure out which one stands out from the rest. For the second time this year, a Volkswagen vehicle has taken home the title of “Best” in their respective category. Cars.com Three-Row SUV Challenge Rankings

Following the footsteps of the redesigned 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, the brand-new Volkswagen Atlas has won the Three-Row SUV Challenge by a large number of points, making it the Best Three-Row SUV of 2017 in terms of safety, interior comforts, power, and more. In order to choose a winner, Cars.com compared a total of four different three-rowed SUVs against each other. Here’s how they stacked up:

2017 Toyota Highlander – 559 Points
What the judges liked: Large center console with storage, good standard safety features
What the judges didn’t like: Not enough cargo space, disappointing interior comforts
2017 Honda Pilot – 674 Points
What the judges liked: Quiet cabin, impressive standard rear entertainment
What the judges didn’t like: Inadequate rear legroom, weak powertrain
2018 Chevy Traverse – 680 Points
What the judges liked: Spacious interior, smooth engine
What the judges didn’t like: Poor interior quality, no standard driver assistance features
2018 Volkswagen Atlas – 778 Points
What the judges liked: Best backseat comfort, top-rated cargo capacity, and landslide winner of the Car Seat Check
What the judges didn’t like: Loud engine, not enough USB ports for everyone

As you can see from the way the judges voted, the Atlas had only a few small redirects that could help improve upon its score compared to the larger issues with the other SUVs.
