Join your friends at Dirito Brothers Volkswagen as we celebrate the 81st Walnut Festival right here in Walnut Creek this weekend!
Is there anything not fun about the Walnut Festival? Rides, entertainment, arts and crafts, and most importantly, amazing food and beer are some of the headliners for this year’s Walnut Festival. Starting on Thursday, September 21st, the festival will last all weekend long and end on Sunday, the 24th. Grab your friends and family and enjoy four days of fun along with the rest of the community to celebrate the harvest of the Walnuts in the days of yore. Of course, you’re going to need a way to get to the Walnut Festival, and that’s where we come in! Our Volkswagen vehicles, like the 2018 Atlas, are perfect for getting your whole crew over to the festival each night.
What is the Walnut Festival?
The very first Walnut Festival was held way back in 1911 when it was still called “The Grape Festival”. When Walnuts replaced grapes as the cash crop of our area. While the walnut groves have long been replaced by suburban houses, the Walnut Festival has lived on! The Walnut Festival is put on each year by the Walnut Festival Association which produces fundraising events that benefit the entire community.
Walnut Festival Events
Before the festival begins on the 21st, there will be a free fishing derby held at the Heather Farm Park lake where children can go to learn how to fish. Poles and bait will be provided so don’t worry about having to go out to buy nightcrawlers and a pole for your little one to use. Fishing starts at 7:00 am and lasts until 11:00 am. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and while the event is free, donations are accepted.
After you’ve caught your fair share, be sure to enjoy a few of the more than 30 rides that will be at this year’s Walnut Festival. A special “Pay One Price” ride bracelet can be purchased to allow guests to pay just once to enjoy all the rides instead of having to buy individual tickets for each one.
While you’re enjoying the rides and food, you’ll be treated to great musical entertainment such as Journey Unauthorized, which is a Journey tribute band, Project 4 Band, Aqua Nett, Union Jack & The Rippers, Cruella, an all-female Motley Crue tribute band, and Idlewild West.
Make sure you take some time out of your weekend to enjoy our great community and partake in the 81st annual Walnut Festival. You know what they say, the 81st annual only comes around once in a lifetime, so you don’t want to miss it!
